in light of the Senior testimonies we heard on Sunday this is so timely and really challenging to me. As i think about the seniors and their own steps of faith to not live a “safe” life i’m challenged personally to not give into my own fears of the hard and real life of following Christ – fighting my own desire for just a quiet suburban life with my 2 kids, our home and a minivan. i certainly don’t want to meet my judge after just hugging the balance beam of my life.
I didn’t know his life was full of such sorrows and trials… And to see him preach such radical obedience and faith clearly demonstrates that such power and courage comes from our Heavenly Father above…
Wow. That is so true. I find myself battling worry from every so often, but seeing this helps me to see life in its proper perspective. When my time is done, I hope to jump off the beam, rather than gingerly make my way down!
Wow, what a powerful example. Like Francis Chan said, I do not want to go where the majority goes. I want to take risks for God, knowing full well that if I slip off that beam He will be there to catch me.
Thanks for sharing! This video relates to tonight’s Praxis book club discussion on “Mere Christianity” about how one of the cardinal values of Christianity and human kind in general is fortitude, the ability to face danger (take risks) and persevere even during hard times. The American Dream is to vie for security and comfort, while God wants me to challenge myself to live according to his will. Wow, this short 4 minute video is a great reminder to live for God & “Do Hard Things.”
Hello Kelly,
Thanks so much for sharing this. I’m assuming that Gracepoint Fellowship Church saw this recently as well as Waypoint Community Church. It was really powerful message that really caused me to see just how much I’ve been living without risk or without faith. Gives me a lot to think about.
thank you for sharing this. the illustration was very illuminating and shows how silly it looks to live a life of trying to avoid failure and suffering. challenges me to get out of living a life of fear. thanks.
Wow. It’s so amazing and challenging to hear the tragedies in his life and his exhortation for us to not live cowardly, safe lives before God. Thank you for sharing this…
