This past prayer meeting we did an exercise where we filled in the blanks for the prompts, “Right now…” and then ended with, “But one of these days in heaven…” The “right now” prompt was to be finished with the pains and struggles we go through here and now, and the “but one of these days in heaven” prompt was to be finished with what we look forward to in Heaven when God will make all things right and new. On Sunday during the Easter service, we had about 50 people go up on stage to read what they wrote. It was a really moving time. Even though I had read through all of them beforehand, still, when, accompanied by the praise band singing a song called, “One of These Days,” people were on stage reading theirs, it was really moving. One brother shared about how right now, he really misses his mom, but one day in heaven, he will see her again and they will be together. Another sister shared about how right now, she is so broken and dealing with issues from having come from a dysfunctional family, but that one day in heaven, she will be made whole again. The whole service was a reminder that our hope is indeed in heaven, that our troubles here are light and momentary and are achieving for us an eternal glory! We wish we could have had more people share, but time was limited. I was so thankful and personally blessed by the service. Feel free to add your own “right now” and “one of these days…” in the comments section so we can continue to share what we look forward to in heaven. (Here’s a video of that portion of the Easter Service as well as the lyrics to a portion of the song.)
Chorus
One of these days
I’m gonna see the hand
That took the nails for me
One of these days
I’m gonna hold the key
To the mansion built for me
One of these days
I’m gonna walk the streets of gold
That were paved for me
One of these days
I’m gonna see my Savior face to face
One of these daysVerse 3
One of these days I’m gonna see
Just what became of me
On the day that I believed
When You took myself from me
And I believe I will see
What I would have been
If You didn’t save me
One of these daysVerse 4
And one of these days I’m gonna talk
With all the saints
That have gone before
And in their sandals I will walk
And we will sit along the shore
And I will learn all the things
That I never knew before
All this and moreVerse 5
One of these days I’ll finally be
In a place where
There’s no more need
No more pain and no more grief
No more foolish disbelief
And all the joy there will be
When at last we finally see
One of these days
Right now, I make so many mistakes in life and I make things so difficult for everyone else around me.
But one of these days in heaven, God will make everything right.

amen! i was really blessed by this exercise and to hear so many others share theirs as well. without the hope of heaven, where would we be? why even go on? God is so good and I really can’t wait until that day when we will all be together in heaven and all things will be made new, everything will be made whole.

Right now, I get so overwhelmed and consumed with just daily life, and struggle to relate with God.
But one of these days in heaven, I will be entirely focused on Him.

Easter service was amazing! Thank you for all the sharing by so many people! The song matches so well with the sharing… I also really like Hillsong United’s ‘Til I See You.
Right now, I struggle with being inpatient and uncertain about what God has in store for me in the future.
But one of these days in heaven, I will see my Father (Audience of One) face to face and every little detail now will seem so small compared to his surpassing greatness!

Right now, I am afraid of losing and being separated from people whom I love.
But one of these days in heaven, I will be reunited with all my loved ones, in tears of joy, encircling the throne of God and together singing and praising the Lamb (Rev 5:11-13).

Right now, I am struggling with being broken – as I struggle against laziness and as I struggle to correctly process and respond to my emotions.
But one of these days in heaven, I will be WHOLE.

Right now, I have fears about how things will pan out in this lifetime and the road ahead seems long.
But one of these days in heaven, I will be home my Father God, who will have led me all the way.

Right now, I struggle with needing to be somebody and the fear of not making it. But one of these days in heaven, I will completely lose myself in loving God and be completely safe in God’s love for me.
